Decking works where grass or paving doesn’t — a sloped garden, a spot in permanent shade where lawn never quite takes, or simply a different kind of outdoor space to sit out on. The build underneath decides how long it lasts far more than the boards on top: proper joist spacing, correctly set posts, and ventilation underneath so damp doesn’t sit and rot the frame from below.
What we build
Timber decking in a range of treated and hardwood options, and composite decking for anyone who wants the look without the recurring maintenance — no annual staining or oiling, and it doesn’t warp or splinter the way timber can over time. Raised decking for sloped gardens or a change in level off the house, and ground-level decking for a simple, flush outdoor space.
How we build it
Posts are set to the correct depth for the height and ground conditions, joists spaced to the board manufacturer’s spec rather than stretched further apart to save timber, and the frame left ventilated underneath rather than boxed in — which is what keeps a deck sound for years instead of needing boards replaced after a couple of wet winters.
Decking is often part of a wider project — see our landscaping page if you’re planning a fuller garden redesign.
